Toronto, ON, June 1, 2005 -- Argentex Mining Corporation (OTCBB: AGXM) is pleased to announce that distinguished geologist Colin Godwin (PhD, P.Eng., P.Geo.) will join its Board of Directors effective today. Dr. Godwin is an accomplished mining executive, Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia and published author.

"We are delighted to welcome Dr. Godwin, a prominent and respected geological expert, to our Board,” said Argentex’s Ken Hicks. “This is a significant step in the strengthening of our team and we look forward to the expertise that Dr. Godwin will bring to our growing company. His extensive work around the world includes specific experience in precious metal exploration in Argentina, which is an immediate asset to the company.”

Since May 2002, Dr. Godwin has been President of Rome Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: RMR), a Canadian-based mining and mineral exploration company evaluating significant gold-silver and porphyry copper-gold deposits in Neuquen Province, Argentina and major porphyry copper-silver deposits in Mexico. He has also served as a director of Rome Resources since June 2000. Recently, Dr. Godwin has conducted exploration programs in a number of countries, including Argentina, Mexico, Canada and the United States. He has also managed drilling projects in North America and property examinations in Latin America, North America and Asia.

Dr. Godwin is Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia, where he taught the exploration and geology of mineral deposits from 1975 until he retired in 1999. During his tenure, he specialized in field and laboratory studies of porphyry, epithermal, kimberlite, skarn and volcanogenic mineral deposits. The interpretation of lead isotopes in galena as it relates to mineral exploration was also an academic focus for Dr. Godwin.

An accomplished writer, Dr. Godwin has published more than 100 papers, with approximately 35 of these professionally adjudicated. In 1990, Dr. Godwin received the Duncan R. Derry Medal, the highest award bestowed by the Mineral Deposits Division of the Geological Association of Canada. This honor is awarded annually to one outstanding economic geologist who has made contributions to the science of economic geology in Canada.

Dr. Godwin was a founding director of International Geosystems Ltd. and became involved in the development of the GEOLOG System, one of the first computer-based schemes for capturing and using data from exploration-development work, especially drill holes.

Argentex also announced today that Ken Hicks, B.Sc. (Hons), P.Geo., has been appointed President-Elect, effective today. Mr. Hicks has been the Vice President of Exploration for Argentex and has successfully directed the company’s exploration programs in Argentina since March 2004. Mr. Hicks replaces Chris Dyakowski, who steps down as President, CEO and Director of Argentex today. The company thanks Mr. Dyakowski for his dedicated service in this role.
